Worried about being camera shy?

A lot of business owners I talk to, know about video and how powerful it is, but when I talk to them about making a video for their own brand, they always say: "Oh, I'd love to do video, but I'm camera shy" or "I'd love to do video, but I always look weird in front of the camera." or "I hate the sound of my own voice."

That's completely understandable. I get it, being in front of the camera can sometimes be daunting and scary. It's not something that comes naturally. Even me personally, I spend a lot of time behind the camera, but I rarely spend any time in front of the camera. When I first started putting myself in front of the camera, it felt awkward...

However, the more I did it, the easier it became. Just like any other skill. People tend to have the idea that some people are naturally good in front of the camera and some aren't. I don't think that's the case. I believe that speaking confidently and comfortably on camera is something that you develop over time. Like anything else in life, the more you do it, the better you get at it.

We just have to allow ourselves to be vulnerable and let go of our ambitions to be "perfect". Because in reality, there is no such thing as perfect. I have seen many people talk and act confidently while we're chatting, but as soon as the camera and lights come out, they freeze or change personas completely. They often believe that because they're being recorded, they have to put on their serious, presenter personality and speak perfectly.

This simply isn't true! The only person you need to be and act like on camera is yourself. Our videos that we create are aimed to capture the essence of what makes you special and unique. You are already an amazing, successful business owner, all we need to do is capture you and bring that into the digital world.

The reality is, it might take a few tries for you to successfully state your message on camera, but that's okay. That's why we have editing! We can cut out any "bad takes" and nobody will ever see them! We don't post any video content of you online until you have personally reviewed and approved it.

There's nothing to be afraid of with being in front of the camera. We are here to make the process as easy as possible for you, and make sure that on the day of filming, that you're as confident and comfortable as possible. If you would like extra practice, we recommend filming a few selfie videos on your mobile phone. You don't need to post them anywhere, it's just practice for you to become comfortable with speaking to the camera and familiar with seeing and hearing yourself on recording.

We know it's scary, but we encourage you to give it a try!
After all, life begins outside your comfort zone right?
